| 内容記述 | For a variety of reasons, many of the current methods of teaching English as a foreign language within the Japanese education system do not match official government goals of facilitating student achievement of communicative competence in English or fostering a deeper association and appreciation of English—speaking cultures. This paper argues that introducing limited optional bilingual education programs into local public elementary schools could be an efficient, easy—to—implement, and effective means of promoting early English language learning and intercultural awareness. These programs could also serve as a way of opening the door to a clearer understanding of the need for specialized education options within public schools． | |||||
